A misunderstood, niche birth support seen as optional or overlooked.
A widely understood, deeply human support system seen as essential, not extra.
Reframing doulas as a universal right and amplifying real voices to shift perception from luxury to lifeline.
There is a critical gap in maternal health care in communities where access to, and trust in, the healthcare system is already fragile. But what’s missing isn’t more clinical care. What truly improves outcomes is something more human: consistent, culturally-relevant support.
Doulas are an evidence-based intervention shown to improve maternal and infant outcomes, especially for communities historically underserved by the healthcare system. They reduce complications, increase positive birth experiences, and provide the kind of continuous support the system often fails to deliver. Especially for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and low-income families who’ve too often been left behind.
But awareness of doulas is low. And perception is wrong. Doulas reduce harm. Elevate voices. Restore power. HealthConnect One set out to make sure everyone knows this—and to make sure no one brings life into this world alone.
Grounded in that belief “you were never meant to do this alone,” the strategy reframes doulas from a niche service into a universal right. For families that are searching for safety, support, and advocacy, but don’t know how or where to get it, we can show them that doulas are not a luxury. They’re a lifeline.
The idea, “Doulas Are For Every Body,” puts that truth front and center while challenging perceptions about doulas at every level. This campaign educates on how doulas show up for the whole journey and the whole family. Using the faces, voices, and stories of real doulas, we break down misconceptions about doula care and share the truth that every body deserves to be supported before birth, during labor, and long after. That doulas are not a radical choice or only for a select few, they are for every body.
